Saint Mary (Dormition) BCC, Saint Clair, PA

Happy Feast of Saint Josaphat, especially to all those in parishes and seminaries bearing his name!

These are pictures of Saint Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Saint Clair, PA. This unique town has one Byzantine Catholic Church, two Ukrainian Greek Catholic churches, one ACROD church (absolutely magnificent) and one OCA church in addition to four Latin Catholic congregations. All in a town of what is no more than one square mile.

This is the home parish of the late Bishop Michael Dudick of Passaic and of happy memory.

These pictures were taken on Sunday, October 14, 2007.

When I walked into the church, I thought I heard a familiar voice. Then I recognized the black cowl of a priest-friend, Fr. Dennis Grumsey, who is a Conventual Franciscan who possesses bi-ritual faculties. Fr. Dennis is the (excellent) pastor of Mother Cabrini Church in Shamokin. He has served the Divine Liturgy in several parishes throughout the coal regions of PA, most notably at St. Mary's in Kingston, following the death of his good friend Fr. Ted Krepp.

I hope that ya'll enjoy these pictures.

Jon, you forgot to mention the great chili at Tommy's!

I've been in every church but the Ukrainian one across from St. Michael's Orthodox Church...

Ah, how I miss the Coal Region!

I love this town.

The only church there I've been in is St Michael's (peeked in Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church through the window in the door).

Thanks.
